Tick carry a wide range of diseases, including the dangerous Lyme disease, which can hurt both people and pets. Young kids and the elderly are particularly at risk, and you’re able to keep them safe by requesting a professional yard treatment from the Mosquito Squad. We apply a dual-step treatment that gets rid of both young and mature ticks, eliminating current infestations and stopping baby ticks from repopulating your yard. The treatment takes only a few hours, and we are able to work while you’re away from home for increased convenience. Call us with any questions or schedule a no-commitment appointment for a free yard evaluation and estimate.
Our traditional barrier spray treatment eliminates 85 to 90 percent of ticks in your yard. A team of licensed applicators uses backpack mist blowers to apply an EPA-approved solution in common areas where ticks and other pests gather and the yard’s perimeter. The most common areas that we spray are tall grass, near woodpiles, the bottom of fences, and around your tree line. Designed to work for up to 21 days, the time-released solution continues repelling ticks for weeks.
It’s highly recommended that you schedule additional barrier sprays every two to three weeks for the best results. Our team is able to spray the yard while you’re not home, which means you don’t have to take off from work or sacrifice your free time. We’ll spray the yard and leave a notice of completion on your door for your records.
Another popular treatment method is our all-natural barrier spray. If you’re looking for an option that repels pests rather than kills them, this is the way to go. Using a blend of essential oils and a surfactant, we’ve created an organic spray that repels 65 to 80 percent of ticks, in addition to many other troublesome pests. Because this is a gentler treatment, it lasts for 14 days as opposed to the three weeks of protection offered by a traditional spray.
After spraying your yard and treating or removing all mosquito and tick breeding areas, we place tick tubes around the yard. These biodegradable tick tubes use mice to get rid of nymph ticks. Inside each tick tube is cotton that’s been treated with insecticide. The mice take the cotton for housing, and then when the ticks try to feed on the mice’s blood, they’re eliminated quickly.
Our tick tubes last for up to six months before needing to be replaced. Furthermore, when the tick tubes are combined with a barrier spray treatment, you can expect up to see more than 90 percent of ticks removed from your yard. As time goes on and the treatment’s maintained, you’ll notice a cumulative effect month after month.
